PATRIOTIC staff at a rehoming centre have named their latest arrival George after the Patron Saint of England.
And the workers at the Dogs Trust Darlington Rehoming Centre hope that come St George's Day on Friday, the young Doberman-cross will have found a new home.
George, a lively five-month old dog, arrived at the centre, in Sadberge, last week as a stray and is currently undergoing assessment.
Sarah Shreeve, from the centre, said: "George is a bright, adorable dog. We get so many dogs coming into the centres looking for new homes that we often run out of original names to give them.
"George seemed perfect considering it is St George's Day so soon."
The rehoming centre will ensure George is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated before going to a new home.
Anyone wanting to learn more about George, or any other dog, should pay a visit to the centre or call (01325) 333114.
