POLICE are appealing for help to track down a mugger who targeted a disabled woman as she walked along a footpath in Coulby Newham.
The woman, who is disabled and is in her 40s, was left with bruising to her hand after the young attacker snatched her handbag and shopping bag last Thursday at about 8.10pm as she made her way home from the shops.
She was walking along the footpath next to the cycle path that runs along Manor Farm Way and Coulby Manor Farm when the youth grabbed her bags and ran off towards Saxonfield on the estate.
Detective Sergeant Ian Craig said: "This just shows the level these people will stoop - targeting a disabled woman is nothing short of despicable. I urge anyone who knows anything about this incident to contact me immediately."
The attacker is described as aged 18 to 20, 5ft 8in, slim with short light brown hair shaved at the back and sides. He has blue eyes and wore a white tracksuit and white trainers.
Anyone with information is asked to call the robbery squad on (01642) 303136 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
