PARENTS are to be offered advice and support thanks to a project being launched at a primary school.
Saltburn Primary School's deputy headteacher, Penny Walkley, family worker Christine Fletcher and school nurse Margaret Dalby have formed the Saltburn Community Team.
Weekly family drop-in coffee sessions, after-school groups, parent support groups and advice on subjects ranging from children's behaviour to managing finances will all be on offer at the school.
Ms Walkley said: "We're a team of workers with a variety of work and life experiences, all here to support children and their families. We're here to listen and can offer help in sorting out everyday problems."
Headteacher Janet Richardson said: "Our school's ethos is to work with the community. We've been working along these lines for some time, and we're sure this latest initiative will only enhance what we're trying to achieve for our children and families."
The Saltburn Interagency Project, initiated through work with the East Cleveland Education Action Zone, is part-funded from the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and backed by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's education, social services and youth and community departments, and Langbaurgh Primary Care Trust.
