Crook League: The first qualifying night for the League Singles and Doubles Championships was held at Crook Coach and Horses with two from each competition going through to Finals Night.
The winners from the 43 entries in the Singles were Gus Witton of the Golden Fleece and Colin Howe, also of the Golden Fleece. In the deciders, Witton beat Norman Slack of the Mill House, whilst Howe beat his Golden Fleece teammate, David March.
The qualifiers from the 22 doubles pairs were David Haygarth and Les Scott of the Coach and Horses and Gus Witton and David March of the Golden Fleece. In the deciders Haygarth and Scott beat Alan Bibby and Slack of the Mill House, whilst Witton and March beat the Harker brothers, Wayne and Michael of the Queen's Head.
Willington League
Ichampionship play-off Willington Cottles B took the title when they beat Sunnybrow Brown Trout at Willington Brewer's Droop. The trout only managed to take one point.
The Brown Trout got away to a great start when Les Welch beat Dave Bennett, but from that points Cottles took over and won the remaining points when Paul Trow beat Dave Blackburn, Brett Fleming beat Ian Stoker, Wilf Sharp beat Rita Welch and Gilly Spark beat Gary Holland.
Willington League
Ire-arranged match Sunnybrow Brown Trout B were able to pull themselves level on points with their visitors from Willington Black Horse Tavern after edging past the Tavern by the odd point. The Trout trailed after the singles where they had wins from Ian Stoker and Kenny Longhorne, whilst the Tavern went ahead with wins from Aynsley Rainbow, Laurie Norman and Malcolm Marriott. However the Trout recovered to take the two remaining doubles with wins from Andy Fitzpatrick with Ian Stoker and Derek Brazier with Kenny Longhorne.
Potential champions, Willington Lion and Unicorn suffered a severe set back when they only took one point out the visiting Prospect Club and now share the top spot with Willington Club with only one match remaining.
Byers Green Royal Oak are two points behind the joint leaders and two points ahead of Hunwick Joiners Arms. However Willington Brewer's Droop are only six points behind the joint leaders and have two matches to play.
