In the Lasertech League Challenge Cup Final last year's runners-up Pelton RAOB went one better to win this year trophy by beating Houghton Glendale in an entertaining final.
Held at Brandon United, the first half was a closely contested affair, both teams probing to find an opening against well marshalled defences but it was the Glendale who broke the deadlock with a fortuitous 40th minute header from David Foster.
Pelton started the second half strongly, equalising with a Michael McKay goal after 55 minutes. Man of the match Michael Mckay then turned provider setting up Ryan Drummond to put Pelton 2-1 up after 67 minutes. Houghton Glendale pressed hard and should of equalised when a great cross from Peter Wilson found the head of Phillip Oliver whose effort just skimmed the wrong side of the cross bar, however Pelton put the result beyond doubt on 85 minutes with a Keith Gamble goal to make it 3-1.
