The club have been awarded the Junior Golf Mark. In an attempt to identify and acknowledge junior friendly golf facilities in England.
The Junior Golf Mark launched in September 2003 by the English Golf Union and English Ladies' Golf Association has already received many applications.
Junior Golf Mark evaluates golf clubs in Coaching & Playing, Club Environment, Child Protection & Duty of Care.
The EGU and ELGA Development Officers are currently conducting assessment meetings, offering advice and guidance to golf clubs on how to further enhance their junior sections and develop best practices.
The first major club competition was played over two days at Easter for trophies presented by Ian Smith to celebrate his captaincy of the club some years ago. Prizes were awarded for gross and net scores for both gentlemen, ladies and juniors.
Gentlemen: The gross prize with a score of 143 72+71) went to Matthew Marsh while the net prize went to Michael Burns with a score of 138 71+67).
Sunday: gross 71 Kevin Hamlett nett 67, Mike Mayman (9).
Monday: gross 71 Michael Henson nett 68 Stephen Kendrick (20).
Ladies: Overall gross 157 (78+79) Gillian Petrie nett, 148 7379) Julie Standen.
Sunday: gross 93 Jane Robinson. Nett 78 Liz Stubbs (16). Monday gross 94 Valerie Abbey. Nett 75 Julie Noble (36).
Juniors: Overall gross 150 (74+76) Laura Harvey. Nett 134 (66+68) Johnathan Rayner.
