SLINGSBY'S decision to return to the Feversham League for the coming season was welcomed by the existing four member clubs - Gillamoor, Harome, High Farndale and Spout House - at an extraordinary general meeting.
It was agreed there would be three matches between each side, making a total of 12 fixtures for every team to fulfil by July 31. Subscriptions are £10 for the league and £5 for the Lady Feversham cup.
The draw for the Lady Feversham cup, which includes an additional three teams by invitation, is as follows. - First round: (A) Spout House v Rievaulx; (B) Wombleton v Nawton Grange; (C) Slingsby v Harome; (D) Gillamoor v High Farndale. Semi-finals: winners of A v winners of B; winners of C v winners of D.
There will be individual miniature trophies for the league winners, with man of the match awards for the top four play-off semi-finals and final, and the Lady Feversham cup final.
l Thorp Perrow began their season with a friendly fixture last weekend, suffering a comprehensive eight-wicket defeat at the hands of East Harlsey.
Having been asked to bat first on a very slow wicket, Thorp were shot out for a very poor 68 runs. The shot selection employed by the majority of the batsmen was woeful and a quick learning process is vital for tomorrow's Nidderdale League division three opener at Galphay.
In reply, East Harlsey romped to a very easy victory, with only John Abbotson and Chris Ellerbeck bowling with any consistency.
