Coxhoe Boys: Coxhoe are one game away from completing the league season unbeaten after drawing at Seaham last Sunday thanks to a marvellous performance from goalkeeper Tom Orton.

Although it was Nathan Ward who grabbed the all-important equaliser, Orton's saves, particularly one from a penalty late on, proved vital in earning Coxhoe a point from the 1-1 draw.

The match was free of incident and both managers were agreed the game was played in good spirit and was an excellent game of football.

Bobby Orton, manager of Coxhoe, was delighted with every player in his team, although singled out Michael Roberts out for particular praise.

Coxhoe, already promoted as champions of Division Two of the Russell Foster Tyne and Wear Youth League, now host Hylton Castle on Sunday (Coxhoe Leisure Centre, 1.30pm) in their last league game at under-15 level.

Last week Coxhoe lost by a single goal to Spennymor Boys in a game played at Spennymoor United's Brewery Field - the first time Coxhoe have lost at the venue in almost 20 matches.

Rohm and Haas JOC Hetton Youth League

Ryhope clinched the championship with a final day victory over Jarrow St Bedes who were also in the running.

But Ryhope made no mistake hitting their opponents for a 4-1 defeat to open up a two points lead at the top of the table.

Michael Patterson and Kyle Dinsdale both scored twice while Jarrow's consolation goal came from Adam Richardson.

Had Jarrow St Bedes won they would have been involved in a play-off for the title with Lumley, who end runners-up.

Ryhope have also won the Subsidiary Cup which has been played for on a league basis. They ended the season three points in front of Jarrow St Bedes.

Sacriston finished bottom of both divisions.

In the league, they gained one win and two draws and totalled five points, but in the Subsidiary Cup they failed to gain a point from their six matches.

Durham County Council Lomax Enterprises Youth League

Ogame was played at the weekend and Trimdon United romped to a 10-1 victory over Consett in the Subsidiary Cup.

Philip Shields scored the only goal for the Steelmen on 15 minutes, but at the other end the goals rained in.

Ben Williams rifled a hat-trick and both Gary Evans and Ross Parkin bagged a brace. Lewis Robinson, John Haynes and Gary Davies were also on target for Trimdon.

Redheugh have won the championship with eight wins and three draws from 12 matches, but there is still a battle for the runners-up position between Darlington Spraire Lads and Willington. The latter have a two points advantage over their rivals and both sides still have one game to play.

Stockton

Stockton Under-12s became champions after playing at Recar but the game was played in the greatest of spirits with both teams without a lot of players.

Stockton went at Redcar straight away with man of the match Adam Maplesden missing a hat full of chances, but Redcar's resilience held out til half time.

The second half started the same and after a few corners from Stockton the ball fell to Harley Gibb who squeezed the ball under Redcar's keeper. This sparked Redcar into life and saw the best move of the match as a brilliant flowing move split Stockton's defence to allow a great finish which leveled the game.

After that Redcar's football outshone Stockton who had to hold out for a tense finish.

New County North Durham Youth League

Blaydon moved into pole position when they gained a 1-1 draw at bottom of the table Consett, who collected only their second point of the campaign.

Blaydon are now just one point ahead of South Moor, but have clinched the championship since their nearest rivals have completed their programme.

At the bottom of the Under-16 division Consett have two games to play and are the only side yet to record a victory.

Redheugh have won the Under-17 section even though they were beaten 4-3 in their final game at Leam Rangers.

Cowgate put eight goals past Consett, who replied just once through Craig Dodds. Chris Phee found the net on three occasions, John Redhead struck twice and Chris Gleadon was another marksman for Cowgate who moved into third position.

Marton

Playing at Stockton, Marton Under-14s' opponents started the brighter taking the game to Marton and after missing two early chances deservedly went into the lead, Alcock cut inside the full back to curl the ball into the top corner.

After a slow start Marton edged their way back into the game and started creating chances of their own, Henderson and Tymon were both denied by the excellent Stockton keeper.

With the half coming to an end the visitors found an equaliser, Johnston forcing the ball home from a tight angle after another good save from the home keeper.

The second half got under way with both teams looking to add to their score but it was visitors who took the lead, Henderson slotting the ball past the keeper. The game swung from end to end but Marton couldn't get the third goal to kill the game and were made to pay.

In the final minutes a shot from outside the box deceived Parker in the visitors goal to leave a simple tap in on the line for the Stockton striker Elgie to bring the game level once more at 2-2.

From the restart Marton could have snatched all three points when Rowney was sent clear only to see his shot go the wrong side of the post.
