Cup finalists Hurworth Albion visited AFC Brinkburn and despite a man of the match performance in the Brinkburn goal by Neil Cockfield it was the visitors who came away with three points.
They enjoyed a 6-0 victory thanks to goals from Darren Tate, Wayne King and two each for Darrren Wray and Paul Geddes.
Killinghall Arms had a hard earned three points with a 3-2 victory over Nestfield WMC with goals from John Henderson and a double from Phil Reynold, proving too much for the clubmen.
East End played hosts basement club Brinkburn Wanderers and the home side dominated the game from start to finish. Although the visitors showed great character and battled to the end, but were undone in the first half by three wonderful strikes from outside the 18 yard box. East End took their foot off the pedal in the second half, and would have reached double figures if it were not for the efforts of Frazer Gallagher in the Wanderers goal. A hat-trick by man of the match Neil Godfrey, two each from Steve Johnson and Neil Jackson and a strike from Paul Hanafin and Jimmy Morris kept up East End's title challenge.
Spraire RA visited Shuttle and Loom and despite a goal from Martin Brown they went down 2-1 to the home side.
* The title is now a two horse race between East End WMC and Newton Aycliffe Sports Club and they meet on Sunday, May 2 in a game which is looking more and more likely to be the championship decider.
Shuttle and Loom have completed their fixtures and are guaranteed third spot, while Nestfield WMC will finish fourth.
