Bedale High School has enjoyed a successful season on the soccer field, with both junior teams winning Hambleton and Richmondshire area cups.
The year seven team, managed by Martyn Coombs, won 15 of their 17 matches this season, defeating Wensleydale 4-1 in the final.
Bedale won the final with two goals from Nathan Clarke and one each from Robert Elsworth and Andrew Shepherd, man of the match being Calum Fletcher. Robert Elsworth was the leading goalscorer in the school with 15 goals.
The year eight school team, managed by Steve Senior, also succeeded at Hambleton and Richmondshire level.
They had a mixed season culminating in success in the area plate final with a 5-1 victory against Wensleydale School.
Because of illness, several year seven pupils had to be drafted into the side for the big game. Man of the match Mark Hemmingway gave the side an early lead and further goals came from Thomas Exelby, Graham Caygill, Christian Matthews and Shaun Foulkes.
Mr Coombs, head of PE at the school, praised parents for their support for the year seven team, saying high standards of behaviour had been maintained throughout the season regardless of the result on the pitch.
He said his match day responsibilities had been made easier by parents helping with various other tasks.
