DIVISION ONE: Carlin How 3 Nunthorpe Ath 2; Carlin How kept their hopes of the championship alive after a narrow victory over Nunthorpe Athletic.

The opening half hour was very tight between the two teams but in the 31st minute Carlin How took the lead when a clearance by Nunthorpe's Andy Southern fell to Martin Say who, from 25 yards, fired home into the top corner. Four minutes later it was 1-1 when Simon O'Shea and Phil Pinkney combined for O'Shea to make it all level. A minute before half time man of the match Martin Say cut inside from a run down the left and his pass found Danny Wilkinson who poked the ball past Nunthorpe keeper Paul Mansfield. In the second half Nunthorpe pushed forward and in the 65th minute the Pinkney and O'Shea combination resulted in O'Shea pulling it back to 2-2. The last quarter was end to end and a Steve Starsmore well struck shot was parried by the Nunthorpe keeper, but Martin Say was quickest to react and stab his second of the match to make it 3-2.

BEADS 1 Hartlepool 4

Hartlepool knew a win would put them in the driving seat for the League title. The first half was very even with the home just shading the play but they failed to take any of their half chances. Disaster struck ten minutes into the second half for BEADS when a defender miss-kick allowed Neil Hay the opportunity to tuck away his 11th of the season to give Hartlepool a 1-0 lead. The home side pushing forward but Hartlepool doubled their lead when a break down the right resulted in a cross being put away at the back post to make it 2-0. Anthony Broom made it 3-0 and Kevin Auton broke clear to make it 4-0. BEADS pulled it back to 4-1 when George Pain was brought down in the Hartlepool area and Michael Johnson scored his third of the season from the penalty spot.

Grangetown BC 0 Thornaby 2

The current League champions looked to have lost their crown after this narrow defeat by Thornaby. The first half saw few chances for either side but just before half-time the league's leading scorer Michael Arif gave Thornaby the lead. In the second half the Boys Club, seeing their title slipping away, pushed forward but on the hour Thornaby broke and Arif secured the points.

Mackinlay Park 2 SMG Redstripes 2

Kevin Maloney gave Mackinlay Park the best start possible when he opened the scoring with his third of the season in the tenth minute - the only goal of a very tightly fought first half. SMG were back on level terms when Kevin Lowe made it 1-1 on the hour before the home side grabbed the lead again ten minutes later when Paul Jewitt scored in the 70th minute. Paul Brown gave his side a slender lifeline when he made it 2-2 with his second of the season.

Richmond Town 0 Fishburn Park 1

in a game of few chances Fishburn scored the only goal of the game. Five minutes from the end, following a free kick, Jimmy Simpson headed home and although Richmond pressed forward for the last five minutes they couldn't find the equaliser.

Wolviston Res 5 New Marske SC 1

The home side pushed forward and took the lead through Ian Thompson in the 26th minute. Ten minutes later Chris McGill doubled the home side's lead. Seven minutes into the second half New Marske gave themselves lifeline when Gary Bickerstaff pulled it back to 2-1 but Wolviston raced up to the other end when Thompson, with his second of the match, made it 3-1. McGill then struck in the 71st minute to make it 4-1 and completed his hat-trick with three minutes remaining to secure a Wolviston victory and condemn New Marske to the drop.

Teesside Ath 0 Darlington CB 0

chances were created but in blustery conditions non were taken and Teesside Athletic, who have resigned from the league, completed their fixtures and finished fifth.

Billingham W. 4 Guisb Town Res 0

Billingham Wanderers sealed a place in the semi-finals after beating Guisborough Town Reserves, although they still have one more game away to North Ormesby. David Phillips gave the Raine Trophy finalists a fifth minute lead. In the second half Jonathan Stewart gave Billingham a 2-0 lead and ten minutes later John Cairns made it 3-0.

With five minutes remaining Richard Walker had a stroke of good fortune when he broke clear but had his shot on goal saved by the Guisborough keeper only to bounce out and hit Walker on the knee and rebound into the net to secure the win and a place in the semi-final.

Darlington Albion 0 Dormans FC 3

Darlington Albion's slim hopes of progressing any further were brought to an end, even though they still have a game to play. Opponents Dormans FC, who have clinched the Second Division Championship, took a tenth minute lead through Dominic Ingram. Glynn Swinnerton added the second ten minutes before half time with one of his trademark free kicks and the second division's top scorer James McGowan made it 3-0 to take his tally for the season to 36.

Darlington RA Res 1 Whinney Ba. 1

Darlington RA Reserves secured a place in the knockout stage as best placed runners-up following this draw. In a poor game Whinney Banks took a 35th minute lead through Craig Owens' ninth of the season. But the home side drew level nine minutes later when James Parkinson earned his side a home tie in the semi-final against Billingham Wanderers.

Darlington SRM 0 Teesside Link 4

Teesside Link took the lead through a Damien Frankland own goal in the 52nd minute. The match was still very even but in the 78th minute Robbie Shaw gave Teesside Link a 2-0 lead, then went on to add further goals in the 80th and 84th minute to complete his hat-trick.

Richmond Mavrks 6 Redmire Utd 1

Martin Clark gave the Mavericks the lead in the 13th minute, Mark Fleetwood doubled the lead in the 20th minute and Clark made it 3-0 three minutes later. Redmire got back into the game when Lee Goult scored in the 39th minute, in the second half the match was very even but in the 66th Fleetwood made it 4-1 and he completed his hat trick in the 87th minute before Glen Walker wrapped up the win a minute later when he chipped the keeper to book a place in the final.
