A RESTAURANT owner is urging diners to turn detective and help trace the history of his building.
La Riviera Italian restaurant, in Pipewellgate House, Newcastle Quayside, was once the home of the river police on the Tyne.
The owner, Parvis Alizadeh, is keen to find out more about the building's past.
He said: "The restaurant has built up a good, loyal clientele, which is why we have decided to turn detective, as some customers ask about the history of the building, and at present all we can tell them is that it used to be the old river police house."
Mr Alizadeh plans to display any evidence gathered in the restaurant.
