YOUNGSTERS at a County Durham school are to help start work on a £250,000 nursery unit on Monday.
The children, from Lumley Medway Infant School, near Chester-le-Street, will join Durham County Council cabinet member, Brian Walker, and contractors from Service Direct, the county council's construction arm, in a turf cutting ceremony to mark the start of work on a 26-place nursery.
The single-storey brick building in the grounds of the school will also have an office, laundry and store room.
It will have underfloor heating and a covered outdoor play area.
Work is expected to be completed in August.
