Distinguished broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough is to star in a tribute to one of the region's most famous sons.
Middlesbrough-born folk musician Richard Grainger is making a CD telling the tale of Captain James Cook's first voyage of discovery on board Endeavour, featuring extracts from the adventurer's log, shanties and sounds of the ocean.
Sir David's distinctive voice will provide the narrative, poetry and log quotations for the CD, called Eye of the Wind.
The CD is accompanied by a 16 -page full colour booklet, including song lyrics and the narrative, which was produced at Radio Cleveland's studios by Mr Grainger and Ken Snowdon.
Captain Cook expert Doug Worton supplied much of the original text and Middlesbrough graphic design company Bombshell the artwork.
Mr Grainger said: "I am delighted we are able to display such an array of talent from Teesside, proving we are at the cutting edge of this business.
"We were fortunate to attract Sir David, who is a major figure and someone of considerable popularity and professionalism."
Klondike Records will donate £1 to the Captain Cook Trust for each album sold when it is released later this month.
