YOUNGSTERS helped to create the largest nest seen in Guisborough forest at an activity morning.
The free event, held last week to coincide with the nesting season, was organised by wardens at Guisborough Forest and Walkway at Pinchinthorpe, for children during the Easter holidays.
Meanwhile, volunteers supported a green project to help to improve their local environment.
Friends of Guisborough Forest and Walkway were joined by helpers and countryside wardens to plant an area on the Beckside Line, behind Somerfield supermarket in Guisborough, with Guelder Rose.
Chairman Ted Amos said: "As the bushes grow and mature, they will improve the area for both residents and wildlife, with many bird species benefiting from the extra food provided by the plentiful supply of Guelder Rose berries."
The activity was part of a four-month campaign called Action Earth, supported by the Environment Agency and involving more than 750 voluntary organisations, businesses and community groups country-wide.
