THE hunt for an editor capable of putting together a book chronicling the story of a village comes to a head this week.
Catterick has been awarded a grant by the Local Heritage Initiative and even has a working title for the finished article, which may be called Past, Present and Future of Catterick Village, Tunstall, Brough and the Appletons.
However, the missing link is an editor to co-ordinate the project and a public meeting will be held between 2pm and 7pm at The Horner Room, Booth Hall, on Wednesday when it is hoped someone with the right skills will come forward.
"We have the local knowledge, we have the funding and we have enthusiasm; we just need to pull it all together,'' said Carol Dawson, of the A1 Community Works office, which is co-ordinating a number of projects around the village.
"It is important to involve all generations of the local community to accurately record their memories and stories about the area, the way we live now and aspirations for the future. We don't know who will be reading this book in a couple of hundred years from now."
Anyone with the relevant skills who may be interested in filling the post is asked to call (01748) 810050.
