FORMER England cricketer Phil Tufnell was in the North-East yesterday to promote his forthcoming charity walk - the npower 500.
The ex-Middlesex spinner will tackle a month-long charity walk for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
The npower 500 will see Tufnell, an I'm a Celebrity star, walk 500 miles around the cricket grounds of England in an attempt to raise £250,000 for the charity.
Staff at npower customer care centres in Team Valley, Gateshead, and Tyne House and Wear House, in Peterlee, County Durham, will help raise funds.
Tufnell will walk to a total of 20 village cricket clubs and six Test match grounds, starting at Hove on Sunday, May 16, and finishing 28 days and 500 miles later at the npower Test match at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, on Saturday, June 12.
Supporters can visit www.npower500.com to follow Tufnell's progress and donate money online to Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Donations can also be made by cheque, payable to Macmillan Cancer Relief (npower 500), 89 Albert Embankment, London SE1 7UQ, or by phone, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm, on 0207 840 4642.
