A woman has been left traumatised after she was allegedly raped in Stockton over the weekend.
The incident is said to have taken place between 8pm and 9pm on Sunday, when the 25-year-old was walking along a small piece of land in the town's Portrack area.
She was grabbed from behind by a man who put his hand over her mouth and dragged her into nearby bushes in Eastport Road.
The attacker is described as dark eastern European, aged around 28, 5ft 11ins tall, chubby build with dark hair and bushy eyebrows.
He was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and a white collarless shirt with black vertical stripes around the neck area.
The woman was wearing a denim skirt, green vest top and white slip-on shoes.
Although traumatised she was left physically unhurt by the attack.
Detective sergeant Alastair Simpson, of Stockton CID, said: "The attack took place within site of a busy road and anyone who has any information is asked to contact us on (01642) 302226."
