A CHARITY is hoping to sell pure nostalgia, and is appealing to people to search their wardrobes and lofts to help.
Teesside Hospice, in Middlesbrough, operates ten charity shops in order to raise the £2,600 needed to cover its daily running costs.
Now, the charity's flagship store, in Middlesbrough, is to be turned into a "retro shop", selling on clothes, shoes, handbags, jewellery, bric-a-brac and even furniture dating back to the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
Sheila Bearcroft, the charity's shops manager, said: "We are hoping the local community will get behind us with our forthcoming retro promotion and have a look through their wardrobes and lofts for any items dating back as far as the 1940s.
"Selling these items will help us to raise the £2,600 needed by the hospice each and every day of the year."
The hospice runs a range of support services and has annual running costs of more than £1.6m, with 42 per cent of that being provided by the local primary care trusts.
The charity is appealing for any donations to be dropped directly into their shop, at 145 Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, or for people to arrange a collection by ringing (01642) 816390.
