A woman was killed after being hit by a freight train on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to Northallerton Station, at 9.35am after receiving reports that a woman had been struck by a train.
The incident closed the East Coast main line for almost two hours. Police evacuated the station while they began their investigation.
A British Transport Police spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
The ambulance service attended but there was nothing the crew could do to help the woman.
A spokesman said that the victim had been identified and that her name would not be released until her relatives had been informed.
