PEOPLE have gathered to celebrate the contribution African cultures makes to the region at a festival.
The North-East of England African Community Association (NEEACA) annual showcase event, which was held in Newcastle Civic Centre, featured traditional music, dance and food from the continent.
NEEACA's youth drama group performed a short play and there was music from artists Osibisa and drumming group Bleoo at the weekend event.
There was also a traditional Libation to gain a spiritual blessing for the event, and an African fashion show.
