YOUNGSTERS from all over Stockton took part in a challenge to bring maths to life.
Year nine pupils from nine comprehensive schools took part in the Stockton heat of the Tees Valley Maths Challenge, a competition to raise awareness of maths in the workplace.
The challenge was organised by learn2work and supported by local businesses.
Representatives from each of the companies set a challenge to focus on their business.
These ranged from working out advertising costs and income taxes to challenges linked with sailing and bowling.
The pupils had 15 minutes to complete each task.
Throughout the challenge, students were awarded points for teamwork, their approach to the challenge and their final answers.
The winner, which was St Michael's School, Billingham. goes on to the grand final next month.
