MORE than 150 people attended a public meeting to voice their objections to a proposed development of 111 homes.
The application to build the properties at High Grange Farm, Normanby, has concerned nearby residents who packed into the Parklands pub, in Skippers Lane, Normanby, on Monday evening to give their views.
They are concerned that the proposed area for building is a Green Wedge and that access to the development by Skippers Lane would sustantially increase traffic flow, and be dangerous, especially to children. They were also concerned about the proposals to install traffic lights.
Council officers are recommending that councillors accept the planning application by Hartlepool builders Cecil M Yuill Limited, on land owned by Mr and Mrs Geoffrey Collins, at their meeting next Wednesday.
Labour leader Councillor George Dunning, who chaired the meeting, said: "This goes against the Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's own local plan.
"Residents will be writing protest letters and have asked the Normanby councillors to ask the planning committee for a site visit to be held at 6pm so there can be a good turn-out of residents.
