ENGINEERING services firm Amec has won a contract to provide £33m of patient facilities for the NHS.
The company, which has a base in Darlington, will build six healthcare centres in West Yorkshire, and four regional treatment centres in the South-East.
Most of the contract will be handled by the company's Lancashire office, in Chorley, but some Darlington workers could be included.
Amec, working with Nightingale Architects, has begun planning, design and site surveys. Building will begin in June.
The centres are part of the Government's strategy to increase NHS capacity, reduce waiting times and improve patient care.
