SCOUTS from throughout County Durham gathered in Bishop Auckland on Sunday to celebrate St George, the patron saint of England and Scouting.
The 2nd Bishop Auckland Scout Group hosted the event at St Anne's Church, in Bishop Auckland Market Place.
Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, aged six to 18 years, from Trimdon, Sedgefield and Newton Aycliffe took part.
The Sunday nearest to St. George's Day has become an annual occasion for Scouts to hold ceremonies and parades when they reaffirm their promise and acknowledge the Scout law.
It is said that St George represents the confidence and spirit that Scouts should have when faced with difficulty or danger.
Representatives from Wear Valley District and Sedgefield Borough Councils accepted the scouts' invitation to take part in the service, which was led by Canon Neville Baker.
