DORIS, the homeless dog desperate to find a loving owner to share her final moments with, has attracted a lot of attention.
The ten-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier cross, who has leukaemia, appeared on the front page of The Northern Echo on Tuesday and warmed the hearts of several readers.
Since then, a number of inquiries have been received by the Dogs Trust's Darlington Rehoming Centre, in Sadberge, where Doris is staying.
Michelle Harrison, from the Dogs Trust, said: "There has been quite a lot of interest and we are trying to find the most suitable home for her. We have some questionnaires in her file filled out by potential owners, and it is just a case of finding the right person as soon as possible."
Doris came to the centre as a stray after she was picked up in Stockton. She was diagnosed with leukaemia last month and had an operation to remove her spleen.
Staff are not sure how long she has to live, but want to ensure the time she has left is spent with a loving owner in comfortable surroundings.
