Ladies: A busy time for the ladies under the captaincy of Dorothy Hill with competitions in the wider fields of golf as at Bedale.
Mail on Sunday: The third round of this competition was played at Dinsdale golf club with the team of Gillian Petrie, Julie doughty, Mavis Burton and Joan Sanderson. The team claimed a 4-0 victory.
Bedale v Easingwold: Again the ladies proved too strong for Easingwold in this home match and the result was 5-2 in Bedale's favour.
Yorkshire Foursomes: With ten teams to qualify for the next round to be played at Cleveland golf club on June 24 and the final at Keighley golf club on August 16, the ladies entered with enthusiasm and the following have qualified: Margaret McMahon and Belle Brown; Doreen Bainbridge and Liz Riggs; Julie Doughty and Mavis Burton; Marilyn Dawson and Jackie French; Liz Stubbs and Stella Shepherd; Wyn Thompson and June Thomas; Margaret Gant and Margaret Burleigh; Joan Sanderson and Ena Black; Marjorie Taylor and Margaret Hill; Sue Hill and Janet Sunley.
Ladies April Medal: Gillian Petrie returned the best gross with 78 but could only finish second in this nett competition.

The quarterly meeting was held at Masham golf club with president Robin Elias in the chair. He presented the winners of the golf competition with prizes as follows: 40 points Tim Savage (Harrogate) (22); 37 Bob Holmes (23) (Bedale); 36 David Broadly (20) (Masham).
The president gave a past president's tie to Peter Wildash to mark his year of presidency.
The draw was made for the winter league as follows: Section A: Oakdale, Knaresborough, Otley, Bedale, Wetherby, Aldward Manor.
Section B: Masham, Ripon City, Thirsk and Northallerton, Pike Hills, Harrogate.
Matches to commence August 1 and be completed by November 30.
Date of next meeting Thursday, July 22 at Ripon City golf club.
