Billingham Bombers were at Blackburn Hawks on Sunday in a cup encounter. The match was cancelled ten weeks ago when Bombers could not get transport to fulfil the fixture. This was due to all coaches in the area going to Wales as Middlesbrough FC were in the Worthington Cup final at Cardiff.
Bombers travelled with just eight skaters to a match that had no bearing on the cup winners as Sheffield Scimitars had already won the North Group and meeting Oxford City Stars in the two-legged final. Hawks' player-coach Bobby Haig and Neal Hawarth guested for Billingham to boost their numbers. Robert Dowd gave Bombers a fourth minute lead which was wiped out by the end of the first period with Hawks going 2-1 ahead.
