Middlesbrough AC: Rob Cole of Middlesbrough AC winner over both 1500m and 3000m at the recent open meeting and with an outstanding winter of cross counties behind him, is the only North-East athlete to be selected to race at Iffley Road, Oxford on May 6 to celebrate Roger Bannister breaking of the four-minute barrier for the one mile.
Pete Vickers won the senior 100 (11.1) and 200 (23.7) withy Scott Henderson representing the feat in the U17 age group in 11.6 and 22.8. Chris Tomlinson set a personal best in the U15 long jump with 4.68.
In the U17 girls Hannah Conery won the javelin with 32.23m and Emma Payne was third over 80m hurdle in 13.0.
Ade Babstunde set a personal best of 13.13 in the U20 triple jump at Wakefield with Paul White just outside his best in the 2000m steeplechase with 5.30.4.
Clay Bank East
Paul Lowe (NYMAC) won the final race of the Winter series at Clay Bank East to finish the overall title from Charles Stead (NER).
Lowe completed the five-six miles course in atrocious weather in 40.16 winning by 14 seconds from David Chippett (Knaresmire).
Ken Maynard (DER) was the leading O40 with Mike Hetherton (Acorn) and Ritchie Clarke (NYMAC) winning the O50 and O60.
Cath Pollard (Thirsk) won the ladies race and she was also the leading veteran home. Cath Worth (NYMAC) and Sandra Jemson (NMH) were the other veteran winners.
Tom Gale (Whitby) was the leading junior.

Middlesbrough AC (Mandale)
The North-East Track and Field scene got under way in the form of the Middlesbrough AC (Mandale) open meeting at Clairvill Stadium.
As well as some outstanding performances British long jump record holder both indoors and outdoors Chris Tomlinson was on hand to give out medals and by coincidence the winner of the U13 boys long jump was also called Chris Tomlinson.
In the senior men's event Rob Cole scored a fine double in the 1500/3000 with Peter Vickers wining the 200m in fine style. Chris Snaith and Andrew Tente were also winners.
In the U20 Tyrone Crow stepped down from 400m to win the 200m with Jordan Jefferson going over 6m in the long jump and Paul White opting for the 800m in the steeplechase.
Middlesbrough AC dominated the U17 age group with Scott Henderson winning both sprints in fast times and was also first across the line in the 400m hurdles but missed one barrier and so was disqualified. Andrew Lagan, Tommy Grant and Jonathan Brown were also winners.
Adam Allison completed a sprint double in the U15 boys races with Jonathan Hart taking the shot.
Ben Sanderson was dominant at U13 level winning over 100m/200m and taking the long jump.
Marise Barclay (Middlesbrough AC) although still a junior, won both 100m and 200m with her team mate Clare Eyeington winning the 400m hurdles.
In the U17 section Jenny Kilcourse (Marsh House) won both the 800m and long jump with her club mate Catherine Fleming winning the high jump.
Scarlett Crow (Middlesbrough AC) won the U15 long jump in 4.61.
Christina O'Connor won the U11 60m in a speedy 9.3 seconds.

Local youngsters performed well in the annual North-East v North West v Yorkshire and Humberside U18 match at Darlington.
Dean Daniel (Nunthorpe), fresh from warm weather training with the UK World junior squad, won the 150m in 16.9secs with Gavin Hill (Billingham) winning the discus with a best effort of 45.13m.
Samantha Hart (Redcar) ran a finely judged race to win the 10000m in 2:59.7.
