Calmer days have seen more fish start to rise but not yet in any great numbers. This may change in the near future because several hawthorn flies have been seen over the water.
The rise to these flies can be spectacular in May when they drift onto the water. During the week, 24 anglers caught 60 fish to give a rod average of 2.5 with fish up to 3.5 lbs.
Successful natural flies have been small nymphs and buzzers and damsel nymphs and pick of the lures has been Montanas, Dawsons olive and black tadpoles.
