A CERAMIC plaque depicting community life has gone on show to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the village school.
The plaque has been erected on the front wall of Cotherstone School, in Teesdale, and has been designed by children in years two to six, helped by ceramic artist Judy Caplin.
The plaque depicts landmarks in the village, some of the children's houses and village legends.
Headteacher Pat Barker said: "The children loved making it especially when they saw the finished product."
The children have also worked with Jill Cole and Paddy Burton, from Jack Drum Arts, to stage a play celebrating the school's anniversary.
The play will be performed over three nights in the village hall, starting on May 10.
The project was supported by grants from Awards for All, Sparks, Innovations Grant for Study Support and Elements New Commissions grant.
