HARROGATE firefighters faced a grilling when students from a school for visually-impaired youngsters paid them a visit.
The group, from the town's Henshaws College, were given an assignment challenging them to find out about the world of work.
Leading firefighter Kevin Mann showed the students around the station in Skipton Road and was asked to explain his daily routine.
"We had to think of a community figure who makes important decisions on a regular basis," said student Gary Campbell, whose father is a retained firefighter in North Yorkshire.
"We have already talked to our college principal, Jane Cole, about the decisions she makes in her role and we knew meeting a firefighter would give us a different view."
The visit counts towards the students' pre-vocational life skills course, which aims to help them prepare for employment.
To receive their qualification, students learn about different jobs and the responsibilities involved by visiting workplaces.
