STUDENTS have been rewarded for helping brighten up their community's bins.
Year Eight pupils at Tanfield School took part in a competition to design posters for the school's litter bins.
The contest was organised by Havannah Community Partnership, a group set up to improve the Havannah ward of Stanley.
The winner was Lauren Taylor, whose design can now be seen on bins throughout the school.
Runners-up Bobby Wales and David Eaves will have their designs printed on to bins destined for the streets leading to the school.
