FARMERS and landowners have been urged to take advantage of a woodland grant scheme before the May 31 deadline.
The scheme, run by the Forestry Commission and Defra, is in its final year and woodland consultancy IndiWoods, based on the Aske estate, near Richmond, offers free consultation on the subject.
Carolyn Trimble, director, said landowners and farmers could reap 15 years of income - up to £8,000 a hectare - by planting trees, but warned that applications must be submitted by the end of May.
"The majority of our clients more than cover their costs in the first year and then have 15 annual payments to come," she said.
