Local van hire company, Transmore Van Hire Ltd. has made two young snooker player's dreams come true after providing £10,000 in sponsorship funding.
Gary Wilson, 18, and John Astley, 15, will receive enough funding for this year to ensure they are given every possible opportunity of making it to the top of their sport.
Gary is recognised nationally for his outstanding ability while young John Astley is also making a name for himself competing both locally and nationally.
Mike Dunn, managing director of Planet Snooker said: "It is our top priority at Planet Snooker to help young players receive the financial backing they need.
"Gary has dedicated all of his life to the game practicing hour after hour and travelling all over the country to compete in tournaments.
"His success includes winning the UK under 18 championships for the last two years whilst also playing for his country at junior and senior level. Currently Gary is competing in the National Challenge Tour, his final event is in May where he needs only three wins to establish himself in the top 96 in the world.
"To make it into the top 96 would be massive achievement for someone of just 18 years old."
The Stockton-based company were approached by Planet Snooker to help provide financial support for the two young players.
Peter Abdale, managing director of Transmore Van Hire, said: "When we saw how dedicated Gary and John were we really wanted to help them.
"The funding we have provided will enable them to carry on competing and hopefully give them the footing they need to make it to the top of their sport.
"As a locally based company it means a lot to us to be able to help two local young sportsmen from our region."
