Auckland Area CIU League: Eldon Lane qualified to meet Cockton Hill in the two leg semi-finals after they came through their second leg of the quarter final with a good win over the visiting Evenwood, who began the evening just one point adrift.
In the darts section Evenwood managed to win by one point with wins from Stephen Dowson, Mick Homes and Darren Yeoman, whilst the Lane had points from Billy Percival and Colin Patterson. The dominoes really moved the score in Eldon's favour as they only dropped one point when Tony Webb won for Evenwood. The home winners were Keith Younghasband, John Bell, George Galone and Alan Race.
The whist was shared but Eldon won the two outstanding games from the previous week and were trailing in the fives and three by a point when Stephen Weldon took the vital twenty-sixth team point in the pool section, which had also been good for Eldon as they only dropped one point. The home pool winners were Robert McCutcheon, Colin Patterson, Billy Percival and Stephen Weldon, with Stephen Dowson taking Evenwood's lone point.
Cockton Hill took very little time to score the nine points needed for victory at Horndale after they led following the first leg at 17-8. One point each came from darts and fives and threes, with two each at dominoes and whist, whilst the pool team scored three, with Russell Place having the pleasure of scoring the vital 26th point.
The draw for the semi-finals, to be played over two legs, is Old Shildon v West Auckland and Cockton Hill v Eldon Lane.
