Kevin Oliver reckons last Saturday was the high point of his five years as chairman of Boldon CA.
"Not only were we involved in a ten-goal thriller but at the end of the 90 minutes we were through to the final of the Monkwearmouth Charity Cup," he said.
"We haven't been the most successful team around in recent seasons so for us to beat a team of the calibre of Gateshead Reserves is a tremendous achievement.
"All the lads are looking forward to Monday's game and if there is a tinge of disappointment it is that we have to travel to Stokesley SC. Obviously, we would much rather the tie was at our ground but we are just happy to be in the final."
When he took over at the helm Boldon sometimes struggled to turn out 11 players but nowadays they are much better organised and manager Norman Hunter has put together a side which is currently fifth-from-top, six points behind Monday's opponents.
For Stokesley, it is another chance to win a second trophy. After lifting the North Riding County Cup they lost 3-2 at North Shields in the final of the Sunderland Shipowners' Cup.
Tomorrow, they host Cleadon SC in the semi final of the Wearside League Cup and secretary Peter Grainge is confident that another trophy will find its way to Teesside.
"We have reached two finals and a semi and still have a chance to clinch the championship although North Shields are favourites.
"They are now nine points ahead of us but we have one game in hand and we have yet to play them.
"Anything can happen in a congested end-of-season programme but first of all, we have got to see off Cleadon SC tomorrow and hopefully Boldon CA on Monday before once again turning our attentions to the championship," said Grainge.
