ARTY youngsters at two primary schools will see their creations go on public display in a popular gallery this weekend.
Work by the ten and 11-year-olds from St Wilfrid's RC Primary School, in Monkgate, York and Robert Wilkinson Primary School, in Strensall, will be on show at the Impressions Gallery in York.
Each school spent seven weeks working with writers and visual artists to create photographic projections, poetry, landscapes, portraits and videos.
The aim of the project was to challenge pupils' ideas about contemporary art and to make links between the two schools.
Pupil, Will Paddison, 11, said: "When we first went to an art gallery I thought it was really boring, but now I think art is great. It can be simple. Anything can be art."
Helen Rice, education manager at the Impressions Gallery, said: "We have all been very impressed by the children's work and would like to thank writers Char March and James Nash, and visual artists Liza Dracup and Shanaz Gulzar for their ideas, creativity and commitment to the project."
The exhibition, called Connect4, opens today and will run until July 3 at the gallery, in Castlegate, which opens from 10am to 5.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5.30pm.
