Hundreds of ducks will be taking to the River Swale in Richmond over the bank Holiday.
The mayor, Councillor Stuart Parsons, will start a the traditional plastic duck race from The Bridge on the Green to the town's Mercury Bridge, half-a-mile downstream, at 2.30pm on Monday.
The yellow ducks will be helped on their way where necessary by members of the Richmond Duck Club.
Each of the entrants is numbered and costs £1 to rent for the afternoon.
The owner of the first duck to cross the finishing line will win £300 in holiday vouchers, the second will receive £200 in travel vouchers and the third, a meal voucher worth £100.
The last duck home wins a £20 booby prize.
However, if there is heavy rain and the height of the River Swale poses a safety risk, the result will be decided by a draw at The Board Inn, in the town's Bargate, at about 2.30pm.
