A TEENAGE volunteer has been rewarded for his commitment to the community.
David Gash, 16, from Ferryhill, received a 100 hours Millennium Volunteers Award and a Millennium Volunteers Award of Excellence, for 200 hours of sustained voluntary activity.
David, who attends Ferryhill Business and Enterprise College, is one of several young people who are involved in volunteering work in the town's Ladder Community Centre.
He is no stranger to awards, having recently been honoured with a Shrievalty Award by the High Sheriff of Durham, Peter Cook.
Sandy Denney, community development officer at The Ladder Centre, said: "We hope this achievement will inspire other young people and adults to become involved with volunteering in their local community."
