AN 18-month-old saluki-cross dog is in need of a new home after his owners abandoned him.
William was found wandering the streets of a busy town centre when he was a young puppy, starving and suffering from mange.
He has been recovering from the ordeal with the North-East Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue group for a year and now needs a loving home.
Angela Taylor, from the rescue group, said that William was a laid-back, gentle animal, who would make someone a loving and faithful pet.
She said: "We have spent the last year building him up. "He is lovely. He is very much a people dog and is very friendly. He is just looking for someone who can spend some time with him and help restore his confidence.
"He is very laid back and loyal and deserves to be with someone who can give him a lot of love."
William has been neutered and microchipped by the rescue centre.
Anyone who would like to offer him a home is asked to call (01388) 812782.
