THE sea cadets of Training Ship Marlborough are hoping for a bright future after they secured a new base.
Because their former headquarters was condemned as dangerous, Middlesbrough Sea Cadets moved into a church hall in the town's Grove Hill as a stop-gap four years ago.
Cadets chairwoman Liz Chambers said the instructors and cadets have been offered a new home at the Territorial Army centre in Coulby New-ham.
Lord Crathorne, the president of the Sea Cadets will open the base this month.
Mrs Chambers said the move was a relief.
She said: "We did not have any room for different classrooms so we could have some kids drilling while others were being taught map-reading and seamanship.
"We also have a junior section and it was very difficult to get them to concentrate if the older ones were doing something else.''
The cadets are also planning to launch a pipe and drum band.
