THE fate of five soldiers and five men involved in a violent clash was put on hold yesterday.
The ten, five Fijians soldiers serving in the Royal Anglian Regiment and five men from Darlington, admitted being involved in violence in the town.
The brawl, in Post House Wynd, Darlington, on Saturday, June 14, last year, was captured on security cameras.
However, a further soldier has yet to submit a plea and one of his five compatriots was unable to attend Durham Crown Court for sentencing yesterday.
Judge Tony Lancaster adjourned the hearing to a date suitable for all 11 to be present for sentencing in a fortnight.
He bailed the Catterick-based soldiers, Muly Narova, 19, Radubentiovomo Tokai, 20, Jokatamua Vukiduadua, 33, Samisoni Tabua, 24, and 23-year-old Kiniconi Rairaikula, plus Darlington men, Stephen Kavanagh, 23, of Haughton Road, Ian Ditchburn, 28, of Surtees Street, David Moscrop, 21, of Birch Road, Mark Jenkinson, 23, of Whitehart Crescent, and 24-year-old Peter Brown, of Riverside Drive, to return to the court, on Friday May 14.
The other soldier, 21-year-old Paul Bukavesi, who was unable to attend yesterday due to duties in Northern Ireland, was also granted bail to be at the hearing, on May 14.
