A BATTLE of the bands competition will move into the semi-final phase next week.
During the past month, 12 local bands have been battling it out in the Budweiser event at Aruba, in Darlington.
Each week, three bands have been given 30 minutes to impress the judges with their stage presence and technical ability.
The winners from each heat went through to the semi-finals, the first of which will be held tomorrow.
A spokesman for organiser SCN Promotions said: "This event proves that live music in Darlington is very much alive and kicking, and we're thinking about taking the competition regional.
Competing in the first semi-final is local ska group The Hot Quiche Conspiracy and Darlington jazz-rock combo Browser.
The event, which starts at 8pm, is free.
The second semi-final will feature Darlington indie rockers The Offbeats and New Wave Sound, from Shildon.
