Darlington has its first Arts Council Fellowship trainee.
Liana Miller has won the fellowship, awarded by the Arts Council of England.
She is one of 11 Arts Council Fellowship trainees who will be working at arts venues in the country over the next 12 months.
The scheme is designed to encourage black, Asian and Chinese people, who are under-represented in arts management.
Ms Miller will be working as an arts programming assistant, concentrating on visual and performing arts.
Her duties will include helping to programme a range of arts activities in Darlington Arts Centre, the Civic Theatre and in the wider community.
Originally from London, Ms Miller has been involved on a voluntary basis at Kingston Museum, and worked at the Whitechapel Gallery and Wandsworth Council.
