DIETERS are being urged to lose weight and raise pounds for charity by taking part in a sponsored walk.
Members of Weightwatchers groups in North Durham will join in the annual walk around the parish boundaries of Esh, whose main village is Langley Park, on Sunday, May 16.
The dieters will walk to raise money for the children's charity NCH, which runs projects to help youngsters in County Durham, including schemes to support young carers of elderly and sick relatives.
The guided walk, which is being organised by Esh Parish Council, will start at 1.30pm in Langley Park and will cover local footpaths.
Weightwatchers is urging its members to take part to get towards their target weight and help a good cause.
Spokeswoman Ann Lawson said: "The walkers expect to complete the seven-mile walk in less than three hours and, that means they can earn up to 12 Weightwatchers points.
"We are keen that our Weightwatchers take up healthy and active routines, and this is a great way to help with fitness and boost weight loss.
"Even better is the fact that by facing their challenge and raising money for NCH, they can help children and young people who also face difficulties and challenges in their lives.''
Anyone wanting to take part in the walk, which starts at 1.30pm, can get maps of the route and sponsor forms by calling 0191-388 4684.
