VOLUNTARY specialist respiratory nurse Deirdre Corbett has come second in the UK for her work with people with breathing problems.
She was nominated by patients for a healthcare professional award, and the Teesside branch of the Breathe Easy group presented her with her certificate.
Treasurer Joan Vas said: "She advises and supports us and so encourages us that she has empowered us to take control of our own health.
"She is constantly on hand to help and exercises between 60 and 70 people, on average, every week. And it is all voluntary, she is not paid to do this."
