A SCHOOL is celebrating after recording its most successful sporting season in more than 25 years.
Wolsingham School and Community College has enjoyed victories in football, basketball, tag rugby and athletics, with teams from each sport bringing silverware back to the school.
The year ten football squad has won the double, remaining unbeaten in the Bishop Auckland Schools Football Association League and winning the league cup.
Manager Ed Hodgson said: "They are a fantastic team of extremely talented footballers. I am very proud of the way they have conducted themselves on the football pitch."
The school's year 11 basketball team also won their league.
Some members are also part of the school's under-19s team, which has reached the semi- finals of a national competition.
The squad, coached by Ian Hirst, will travel to Bristol tomorrow to play Whycliffe College in the English School's B competition.
Willy Bell, head of PE at the school, said: "The Schools Basketball Association is a really good standard and the players have worked really hard this year.''
Mr Bell said he was also proud of year seven girls' and boys' tag rugby teams, which both won the Wear Valley Year Seven Schools Competition, and the year eight cross-country team, who won the area championship.
He said: "This has been an absolutely fantastic year. It is one of the most successful seasons we have ever had, certainly in the past 25 years."
