PLANS have been submitted to build a DIY store, garden centre and another retail unit at a greenfield site on the southern fringe of Ripon.
If approved, the development, which has sparked several objections, would be next to Morrisons supermarket and Greystone Primary School, near the city's bypass.
The planning application, from Henry Boot Development Limited, comes only weeks after another development plan was submitted in Ripon to transform a derelict area west of the Market Place with a Booth's supermarket, shops, car park and new inner relief road.
The DIY store would be operated by Homebase with an attached garden centre. But another retail unit does not yet have a named operator.
Members of an area planning committee of Harrogate Borough Council will meet on Tuesday, May 11 to consider the proposal.
The scheme has raised protests from Littlethorpe Parish Council as well as letters of objection from residents concerned about potential traffic congestion and the impact an out-of-town development would have on local businesses.
Ripon City Council has requested more information about the outline application.
