THE prizes on offer for the winner of a County Durham beauty contest are growing.
More than £5,000-worth of prizes are up for grabs for the winner of Sedgefield Racecourse's Miss Durham Beauty Contest on May 25.
Betfred, the bookmakers sponsoring the contest, is donating a widescreen television.
The Ingrid Flute Holiday Accommodation Agency has offered a three-day break for the winner and three friends to any of the company's holiday cottages in Yorkshire or the east coast.
A case of wine-based drink Bliss, supplied by Newcastle Breweries, will be given to the 20 finalists.
The winner also gets direct entry to the Miss England Beauty Contest, which leads to the Miss World contest in China later this year.
Miss Durham will scoop a £1,000 bonus if she goes on to win Miss England and £1,000 will be donated to the Retraining of Racehorses Charity, courtesy of Betfred and Sedgefield Racecourse.
A bonus of £20,000 will go to Miss Durham and the charity if she wins Miss World.
Other prizes for winning Miss Durham include a night's stay in Hardwick Hall Hotel, Sedgefield, a wardrobe of clothing for the Miss England final, 12 airbrush tans a year courtesy of Amazon Tan and a two-day presenter's course with the London Academy of radio TV and film.
